The Stollery Family Day Classic
The Stollery Family Day Classic is completely focused on children, families, active living, and good health. The mission of the tournament is to host an event that promotes awareness and raises funds in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
We believe we have a responsibility to promote generosity and the power of “giving back” among our youth and community at large. Our tournament supports Hockey Edmonton and future player developmental initiatives.
We play for healthy kids and giving back to others.
The event will have a special message and responsibility to empower and enable the players and teams to give back and support others less fortunate. It will also be about giving back to the game of hockey and supporting Edmonton Hockey.
Children that participate in our tournament will learn the values of:
- Family
- Health and supporting others to regain health
- Philanthropy and giving back to individuals and their community
- Fair play, sportsmanship, fun, and competition
The tournament's goal is to promote hockey and healthy children!
HOW WE PLAY
This event is intended to provide an incredible experience for teams to play in a competitive, fun, and local tournament. Every year, the Stollery Family Day Classic takes place at the Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre.
The tournament’s 4 on 4 format is a unique, fun, and safe event that promotes offensive, free-flowing, non-contact games for all players. The age categories will be from U9, U11, U13 & U15, with different divisions within each age group.
Fair play, sportsmanship, and equal ice time for all are important components of this event.

Our History
The tournament began in 2011, and over the years, it has raised millions of dollars in support of children’s health and local hockey development initiatives.
The games emphasize fair play, sportsmanship, and equal ice time, creating a positive and fun experience for young players. Beyond the competition, a significant part of the tournament’s mission is to teach children the importance of giving back to the community. Each player is encouraged to raise at least $100, with all proceeds going to support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, which provides critical healthcare services to children across Western Canada.
Since its inception, the tournament has grown significantly, attracting over 1,100 teams and raising over $4 million. The funds raised help support various programs, equipment, and research initiatives at the hospital, including pediatric oncology and critical care.
